ferrosilis
Description
Ferrosilicon is a type of ferroalloy whose main constituent elements are iron and silicon. This material is used in various industries such as steelmaking and casting.
Ferrosilicon can contain different amounts of silicon (15 to 90%) depending on the production method, which is usually produced by reducing silica ore with carbon materials along with iron in an electric arc furnace.
Ferrosilicon applications:
Deoxygenating agent in steel and iron alloys as alloying agent and silicon element increaser in cast iron parts.
Nucleation agent and improvement of mechanical properties of cast iron.
Raw material for the production of some ferroalloys such as ferrosilicon magnesium and ferromolybdenum
As a component of electrode coatings for electric arc welding
As a raw material for the production of magnesium ingots by the thermal reduction method
